Bass Clef

The bass clef (that curly symbol with two dots) tells you you're reading the lower notes, usually played by your left hand. The line between the two dots is F below middle C, and everything else is measured from there. Getting comfortable reading bass clef is essential — it's where all that rich, deep sound in your left hand lives.
