Cadenza

A cadenza is an exciting solo passage, usually near the end of a concerto movement, where you get to show off your skills while the orchestra waits. It's often written out by the composer but sometimes left for the performer to improvise — either way, it should feel free and expressive. Think of it as your moment in the spotlight: take your time, shape each phrase, and enjoy it.
