Canon

A canon is when the same melody is played by different voices starting at different times, like a round — think 'Row, Row, Row Your Boat.' When you're playing a canon on the piano, each hand often takes a different entry, so you need to keep each line independent and clear. It's brilliant practice for developing hand independence and listening to multiple layers at once.
