Bar

A bar (also called a measure) is a section of music contained between two vertical barlines on the staff. It groups beats together so you can feel the rhythm in manageable chunks — like sentences in a paragraph. Counting the beats in each bar is one of the first skills you'll develop, and it keeps everything organised as you play.
