Treble Clef

The treble clef (that elegant swirly symbol) tells you you're reading the higher notes, usually played by your right hand. It curls around the G line, which is why it's also called the G clef. Most of your melody reading happens in treble clef, so getting fluent with it early on will make learning new pieces much smoother.
